The use of trestles does not seem to be very popular. Primarily, they are not as safe as we would like them to be, but if it is you feel you do need to use them, then make sure they stand on a firm level base. They must be in good working order. The platforms should be of lightweight staging. The working platform should be at least 600 millimetres wide, and access to the platforms by means of a step ladder, and have at least the top third of the trestle above the platform. People will also use tower scaffolding. Now, there are many, many different types out there. It is important you get the actual instructions and read very carefully, get the right training on how to use a tower scaffolding. Many accidents have been caused because they have not been fitted correctly. Accidents have been caused because they did not follow the instructions, the tower has not been vertical, legs not resting on a firm, solid ground.

If you have to use a tower scaffold, make sure of the following; use of a vertical ladder inside the unit must be used. The outriggers must always be in position. Lock the feet. Edge protection and boards must be provided. And tie the tie rigidly to a structure if it is subject to high winds. Some of the do not's, though, is do not overload. Use a ladder leaning up against the tower, no. Move the platform when a person or material is on it, do not. Overhead cables do not use a tie wire or put on uneven ground. There are many examples of people who have used such towers incorrectly and then suffered the consequences.
